A woman is accusing Tesla of killing her dog after her car recorded a ‘malfunction’ in the climate control system.
Leaving your dog in the car on a hot day is never a good idea. But, considering the number of pet deaths that have been recorded because of this, Tesla introduced a feature specifically for pets.
The system, known as “dog mode,” is a climate control that supposedly keeps the interior of the parked vehicle cooler for a dog or cat inside.
Additionally, Tesla displays a message on the screen alerting passersby that the pet inside the vehicle is fine and safe, as the interior is at a comfortable temperature.
Unfortunately, this did not happen with Ice, the pet dog of trainer Denise Fenzi. In a Facebook post made on September 2, she shared that the pet died after being left inside a Tesla.
Without providing many details, Denise explained that “the dog mode malfunctioned in the car” and that “the backup system was not enough to keep him alive.” In a post on Instagram, she said that Ice died after the “climate control broke.”
According to Tesla‘s website, the owner can constantly monitor the vehicle’s temperature through the mobile app, but it also notes that dog mode should only be used “for short periods of time while you are nearby.”
